Communication Preferences

Congratulations, you have completed your registration!

We will send out any updates and communication to the email address that you provided, so please be sure to check.

Please note the following before coming to your first class:  Be sure to dress appropriately. (ie. shorts, t-shirt, bodysuit - no zippers, buttons, snaps, jewelry or dresses).  Please have long hair pulled back in a ponytail or braids.
ALL FOOTWEAR MUST BE REMOVED AT THE DOOR.
Bring a spill proof water bottle, with water only please.
Athletes should NOT come to class if they are feeling ill.

What to do when you get to Taiso on your first day:  When you come in the recreation doors (when looking at the building they are the doors on the left under the main entrance sign), everyone will remove your shoes, place their waiver in the bin on the desk if you didn't email it in. You can then sit on the bleachers until your class is called. You are not allowed on the equipment, or beyond the gray wall until called. The coaches will say something like "all 4:00 classes can come onto the floor". Preschool classes start at 10 after, and will have a separate meeting place.

The Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced classes will meet on the right side of the bleachers (when looking at them) next to the washrooms..  Class lists will be posted on the wall in this area on the first day of classes.

Tykes classes will meet on the left side of the bleachers (wehen looking at them) in front of the office.  Class lists will be posted on the first day.
When the athletes go onto the floor, there will be a fun game to warm up with all groups, then they will separate into their classes for the remainder of the class.

What do the classes entail?  Preschool classes, including Parent and Tyke, Taiso Tykes 3 and 4 are 45 minute classes once per week.  The goal of the program is to teach the kids to listen to instructions, follow small circuits, and learning to stay with the group.  They will learn basic body positions, beginner skill development and through it all have fun!  They will spend time on various equipment including bars, beams, fast track and in the pit.

Beginner and Intermediate programs are 1 hour, once per week.  The Advanced is 1.5 hours once per week.  As mentioned in the section above, they work through a progressive program to help them learn and grow in their confidence and gymnastics development.  The class starts with a large group warm up game, then they are split into smaller class groups to stretch and follow the coach through a rotation on all of the events in the gym. These classes will get time on all of the equipment throughout the session.  The coach will help the athletes learn through positive reinforcement, repetition and fun.  The coaches do not do a lot of hands on spotting, but with constantly be providing feedback, corrections, tips and tools to help the athletes be successful.

Please note** The first day of classes will always be simplified.  Some athletes find the first day of class "too easy". It is intended to be this way. The coaches don't always know the athletes in the group. They have to go through landings and safety things before anything else. They have to do the easy stuff in order to assess what the kids can do for future class planning.

Your child should NOT come to the class if they are feeling ill.
